Welcome to Fremont

Fremont is a diverse and community-oriented city nestled between rolling hillsides and the San Francisco Bay. Fremont is home to the main Tesla factory and other hi-tech businesses. This centrally located East Bay city offers easy access to other Silicon Valley communities via highways and BART stations. Fremont is a designated Tree City USA with over 55,000 trees and a variety of parks and open space preserves. The city also offers eclectic shopping and dining with a real estate mix that includes newly-built condominiums with attractively-designed living spaces.

Pacific Commons Shopping Center is a major East Bay commercial hub with big-box retailers, restaurants, and a 16-screen Century movie theater. Stores at Pacific Commons include Costco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Target, and T.J. Maxx. Dining choices include elevated fast food at Five Guys and In-N-Out Burger, Middle Eastern cuisine at Dish N Dash, Japanese fusion sushi rolls at Little Madfish, and Chinese cuisine at Haidilao and Zhang Fei Hot Pot. Downtown Fremont is teeming with authentic international restaurants. Chaat Bhavan is an authentic Indian eatery with delicious vegan dishes and Nirvanaah! offers tasty Indian-style ice cream prepared with Indian fruits and nuts. Country Way is a popular spot for breakfast classics such as French toast and eggs.

Mission Peak Regional Preserve has hiking trails leading to spectacular views over the South Bay and several mountain ranges. 450-acre Central Park surrounds Lake Elizabeth with picturesque views of the Mission Peak Hills. Central Park has basketball and tennis courts, a skate park, and the seasonal Aqua Adventure Waterpark. The park also offers boat launches and rentals and fishing on the lake. Ardenwood Historic Farm is a working farm with animals, orchards, and an original turn-of-the-century Victorian garden and 1850s farmhouse. Fremont was an early hub of the California movie industry and this heritage is celebrated at Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum.

Fremont operates its own Fremont Unified School District.
